Can It Be True?!

That my last post was the end of September?! Where has the time gone? Apparently, it’s only 50 days to Christmas……….AAARRGGHH!! 🙂 I’d love to be able to say that my life has been non-stop excitement since September, but sadly, I can’t. Instead I ‘ve had hospital appointments & my mom was here from Ireland for a few weeks. I haven’t had time to make any cards & I seem to have lost my mojo too. I’m surrounded by crafting goodies & there are lots of challenges at docrafts, but I can’t get inspired. I made these cards a while ago for my sister & my niece, their birthdays were in October so I didn’t want to post them here until they had seen them.

I bought this image in Summer 2007 for my sister’s birthday card. After I decoupaged it I couldn’t think what to do with it & it stayed in my stash until this summer when Loretta at docrafts posted one of her weekly LO challenges. The backing paper is from Capture The Magic & I attached a piece of vellum to it with brads. They don’t show clearly in the picture, but I put some tiny adhesive gems on to the flowers on her hat & a little glitter glue on her bodice. The card my sister got is actually slightly different to this one. My mom said she would take it home with her so I put it on the couch & went to get a pen, when I came back the cat had chewed off one of the flowers!! I’m surprised my scream wasn’t heard in Blog Land! 🙂 I’m always leaving crafting stuff on the couch & the cat has NEVER done anything like that before. Luckily I have quite a few, (ahem), flowers in my stash, so I was able to repair the damage.

I knew I wanted to use this Penny Black stamp, (it’s called ‘Cinnamon’), for my niece’s card, but I couldn’t think of what colours I wanted to use on the card. Then I remembered the dress she wore to a party in the summer -black with a cerise pink sash. The backing paper is from a sheet of giftwrap & I heat embossed a piece of black card. The image was coloured with Whispers pens & then I used Anita’s 3D glaze.

My friend Jen asked me to make a card for one of her volunteers at The Grand, the movie theatre where she works. Maggies loves cats, but instead of a traditional card I decided on this Egyptian one. I decoupaged the cat & used glitter glue – red & blue – & some red adhesive stones. On the inside of the card is a cartouche with Maggie’s name stamped in hieroglyphics. Maggie liked her card, (ooh, the relief!), & sent me a lovely e-card from Jacquie Lawson as a thank you.
I hadn’t made an oriental card in a while, so when Geraldine sent me an enormous parcel of papers, stamps & toppers I made this one as a thank you to her. The LO is another of Loretta’s challenges – how she thinks up a different one week after week I do not know! The fabric flowers are from Papermania & everything else is from a QVC kit. I scanned the card before I added a gold ‘thank you’ peel-off above the image. Hope Geraldine liked it!
This is another of Loretta’s layouts. I found the

cherry blossom stamp on Ebay & thought it was beautiful. I stamped it onto cream cardstock & coloured it with Whispers pens – I used a Whispers blending pen for the first time & managed to do a little shading! I have a major addiction to ribbons & I love the effect of the pink ribbon on the brown.

I have some more pics of cards that I made before October got in the way, but I’ll post them tomorrow hopefully. I also want to update my list of crafting blogs – there are some very creative crafters out there! I need a rest now because I’ve been up all night watching the US election results. I have followed the election since the primaries & found it extremely interesting & I have to say I’m delighted with the result. Go Obama, go!!!
Love & light to all who read this.
