Merry Christmas!

Published December 24, 2008 by isisimaginings
So, here we are, 6pm on Christmas Eve, 2008. I’m going out to dinner soon with my mum & then we’re off to Midnight Mass, but I wanted to get a quick post in first.

Thank you everyone who asked about my mammogram, I think it was ok. I won’t get results until January, but I’m sure I would have been told if there was a problem, so I’m forgetting about it for now.

My mum arrived on Monday & we’ve been getting ready for tomorrow. I think everything is done & if it isn’t too bad, we’ll do without. 🙂
Here are two more Christmas cards I made last week. This one is for a little girl who had a bone marrow transplant during the summer. We all thought she would still be in hospital for Christmas, but she has done so well that she was allowed to go home a few weeks ago. so it’s going to be the best Christmas ever for Katie & her family. The image is Angelique & it was a free download a while ago from Sammi at Crafty Muse . Thanks Sammi! The LO is one of Loretta’s challenges at docrafts. I wanted to make a happy, sparkly card for Katie & I think this is okay.

This was for my friend, Sarita, in California. I stamped the swirl stamp onto plain white cardstock with Versafine’s Tropical Green inkpad. Then I matted & layered the red vellum onto gold card – the gold swirls on the vellum were a perfect match. The Santa image is from a magazine that came out in November, called ‘Vintage Christmas’ & the flowers are Prima – part of the HUGE stash of Prima flowers from my friend Jen. There are so many that she says I’ll never need to buy a flower again, but as we crafters know, need has nothing to do with it!! 🙂 But a big THANK YOU to Jen anyway!!
I have one more card to post, but it’s for Jen & she hasn’t seen it yet, because she is snowed in at a friend’s house & can’t get her mail! She checks my blog regularly, so I’m not showing anyone her card until she has seen it.
I will end here by thanking everyone who has visited my blog in the last few months & everyone who left such kind comments. I appreciate each & every one so much. I wish you all a very happy & peaceful Christmas. I hope it brings you everything you wish for. Until next time, love & light to everyone.

Playing Catch Up!

Where is the time going to? My mum arrives on Monday, Christmas is eight days away & my to-do list grows ever longer. I did a supermarket shop yesterday & came home feeling quite pleased with myself, until I remembered all the things I forgot to buy. No, I didn’t write a list, which given that my memory has been terrible since the chemo, was not a great idea. Tomorrow morning I have to have a mammogram, so I’ll do another shop afterwards. I’m trying not to think about tomorrow morning too much, it’s 13 months since the last one, which found the tumour, so I’m nervous. Anyway.
I said in my last post that I would reveal the mystery of the gift I made for my friend Jen. Well, this is it, my first attempt at an exploding box.

I had wanted to make one for ages & I decided on an oriental theme, because Jen is always very complimentary about my oriental cards. I think these photos, (courtesy of Jen) show the various elements quite well. It would take forever to list all the components, so if anyone wants more info please ask.

I think I said in an earlier post that I am terrible at taking photos, but while Jen was here we went to Stonehenge & I took these photos. They’re not too terrible, are they? The second photo was taken approximately 15 minutes after the first one & it shows how low in the sky the sun was. I know there are lots of faults with this photo, but I like it. We were very lucky with the weather that day; it was bitterly cold, but so sunny.

I’ll end this post with a few Christmas cards that I made earlier this week. I think I’ve had enough of Christmas cards now, I mailed the last few yesterday. I have some ideas for cards using spring colours & I’ve been given a commission. The Tilda card is for my partner in the December Friendship Swap at docrafts & the blue card is for Clare, the docrafts designer, who awarded me her last blog candy. The bauble & the sentiment are part of what I won & the backing paper is from Joanna Sheen.

The very last thing I will say tonight is that I hate this blog LO. Placing the pics is a nightmare & there are gaps everywhere when I publish it. It has to go.

Love & light.

Thank you

It’s been over a week since my last post. I wasn’t in the mood to write anything & then I spent a few days in London with my friend Jen, who came over from the USA. More of that later. First, I want to thank everyone for taking the time to leave such lovely comments on my last post, it means a great deal to me. And a big thank you to Rica & Irene for this award. I love butterflies, so this is special to me.

Before last week’s events I made three cards, using LOs from Loretta & Clare at docrafts. Hopefully, you can see the sketchs in the cards. This one was an attempt to tell a story with the image, of a little bear who was so excited to get a Christmas gift that he couldn’t wait to get home to open it! The Forever Friends stickers were a freebie in a recent edition of the docrafts magazine, I stuck them onto plain cardstock, cut them out & used 3D foam pads to attach them to another piece of card, which I painted with watercolour pencils, to try to create the sky & snowy grass. I used glitter glues on the trees & the bear’s hat, also on the grass, but the picture doesn’t show it clearly. I heat embossed the snowflakes on to the green backing paper with pearl embossing powder. I found the metal snowflake in my stash – I think it’s from Papermania & attached it to the ribbon with a red jewelled brad.
I think I will give this card to my brother, it will make him laugh! Loretta’s sketch for this challenge was very simple, so I tried to keep all the elements simple. I coloured Edwin with watercolour pencils – not sure why I chose green for his sack though!
This third card uses one of Claire’s sketches. I realised I hadn’t made a Christmas card using my favourite colour – purple. I didn’t want it to be OTT, so I used a piece of starry Papermania paper for the background & pieces of ribbon & adhesive gems from my stash. Tilda was coloured with watercolour pencils & then covered with Anita’s 3D gloss. I really liked this card & then I wrecked it. When I scanned it I didn’t realise the gloss on Tilda’s face was still wet. It stuck to the scanner & when I removed it half her face came off!!! I was so annoyed with myself. I’ve patched it up, but it’s not good enough to give to anyone.

I made some cards today, but will post them tomorrow. I will also reveal the mystery gift that I made for Jen a few weeks ago. I’m relieved to say that she loved it.
Love & light.
