It’s been over a week since my last post. I wasn’t in the mood to write anything & then I spent a few days in London with my friend Jen, who came over from the USA. More of that later. First, I want to thank everyone for taking the time to leave such lovely comments on my last post, it means a great deal to me. And a big thank you to Rica & Irene for this award. I love butterflies, so this is special to me.
Before last week’s events I made three cards, using LOs from Loretta & Clare at docrafts. Hopefully, you can see the sketchs in the cards. This one was an attempt to tell a story with the image, of a little bear who was so excited to get a Christmas gift that he couldn’t wait to get home to open it! The Forever Friends stickers were a freebie in a recent edition of the docrafts magazine, I stuck them onto plain cardstock, cut them out & used 3D foam pads to attach them to another piece of card, which I painted with watercolour pencils, to try to create the sky & snowy grass. I used glitter glues on the trees & the bear’s hat, also on the grass, but the picture doesn’t show it clearly. I heat embossed the snowflakes on to the green backing paper with pearl embossing powder. I found the metal snowflake in my stash – I think it’s from Papermania & attached it to the ribbon with a red jewelled brad.
I think I will give this card to my brother, it will make him laugh! Loretta’s sketch for this challenge was very simple, so I tried to keep all the elements simple. I coloured Edwin with watercolour pencils – not sure why I chose green for his sack though!
This third card uses one of Claire’s sketches. I realised I hadn’t made a Christmas card using my favourite colour – purple. I didn’t want it to be OTT, so I used a piece of starry Papermania paper for the background & pieces of ribbon & adhesive gems from my stash. Tilda was coloured with watercolour pencils & then covered with Anita’s 3D gloss. I really liked this card & then I wrecked it. When I scanned it I didn’t realise the gloss on Tilda’s face was still wet. It stuck to the scanner & when I removed it half her face came off!!! I was so annoyed with myself. I’ve patched it up, but it’s not good enough to give to anyone.
I made some cards today, but will post them tomorrow. I will also reveal the mystery gift that I made for Jen a few weeks ago. I’m relieved to say that she loved it.
Love & light.
