9 Is The Number………

Published April 14, 2012 by isisimaginings

Hello blog visitors, I’m against the clock this evening, so I want to get this post written asap.

The artful wonder that is Hels Sheridan is celebrating 200 weeks of her Sunday Stamper challenge – you can see her 200th post HERE.  Appropriately, she chose NUMBERS as the SS theme.  I promised myself I would take part, but typically, I spent all week wondering what I was going to do & of course, I ran out of time.  The deadline is 9pm tonight.  My plan was to make a canvas, but I ended up using a jumbo tag.  Maybe it will end up on a canvas one day…..

To make the background I used Lord Tim’s wrinkle free distress & blended spritz & flick techniques.  LOVE these techniques.  Distress ink used: Broken China, Crushed Olive, Mustard Seed, Ripe Persimmon.  I used second generation stamping with coffee Archival ink so that the images would be quite faint.  I used Chipped Sapphire through a numbers stencil, choosing ‘9’ as it’s my birthdate.  I then spritzed the tag with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls.

I covered a piece of glossy card with alcohol inks – Citrus, Butterscotch, Sunshine Yellow & Gold mixative.  I stamped the goddess & the feathers – from the Lynne Perella Collection LPC007 from PaperArtsy –  with coffee Archival again & cut them out.  I stamped the heart on white scrap card with raspberry Adirondack ink, cut it out & attached it with a foam pad, then covered it in Glossy Accents.

From this point on, the tag really made itself.  I didn’t have any idea what I wanted.  What I thought I wanted, was a big ‘9’ somewhere, as well as a quote or sentiment of some sort.  But once I’d added the trimmings at the top & the the bling, (junk jewellery & Idea-ology findings), the tag felt finished.  If it does end up as part of a bigger piece, I’ll add some words to the canvas.

That’s it, thanks for looking, I’ll be back soon.

Love & light.
