Adventures with Tim & Wendy

Published May 22, 2012 by isisimaginings

Happy Tuesday!  It is a glorious day here in Kent; hot with LOTS of sunshine.  I sat out in the garden this morning with my coffee, watching the birds at the feeders & it felt so good.  Of course, I also saw all the work that the garden needs, but that’s for another day.

Firstly, a big thank you for the very kind & encouraging comments on my last post, it means a lot.  It was especially swoonsome to get a comment from the great Andy Skinner.  Andy is a brilliant altered artist.  His metal techniques are fantastic & by hook or by crook, I WILL attend one of his workshops one day.  Thank you again Andy.

My project today is my take on Lord Tim of Holtz’ tag for May. you can see Tim’s tag HERE.

A few months ago the very excellent Wendy Vecchi posted a cool technique, called Faux Crazed Glass, on her blog which I immediately wanted to try.  I decided I would attempt it for this tag.  I didn’t have ‘Glue n Seal’, so I used ordinary PVA glue & it worked.  The only difference is that it turned clear as the Rock Candy dried.

Once the vial was completely dry, I smooshed Shabby Shutters & Brushed Corduroy distress stains onto my craft mat & dabbed them onto the vial with my finger, drying each time with my heat tool.

LOVE how this turned out!  I’m now saving bottles in different sizes, so that I can try this technique again.  I’ve got a dark green, empty olive oil bottle, which I think will look great.

I stamped the image onto scrap card & punched it out, then used Glossy Accents to attach the fragment.

Look, porcelain flowers!!  Now, I do not have a Melt Pot, so I improvised, which can be dangerous, because melted UTEE is bloomin’ hot!  Fortunately, I managed not to burn myself, but a Melt Pot is definitely on my wish list, along with Wendy Vecchi’s Art Parts, stamps, Clearly For Art, etc., Andy Skinner’s stamps & classes & the other thousand or so things I want.  Sound familiar??

That’s it for now, so until next time,

Love & light

  • Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I have signed up for your postings and was elated to find the cracked glass information! I am working on that, instead of blogging, starting dinner and graduation cards, lol! 😉
