Layers Upon Layers

Happy Friday, blog visitors, hope you’ve had a good week.

Today’s project began when I needed to make a thank you card with a seaside theme.  By the way, I did not realise the photographs were so terrible, don’t know what I did.  It doesn’t help that the project was so dark.

Take one: Watercolour paper coloured with distress inks & stamped with Crafty Individuals & Creative Expressions stamps.  Did not like.  Too dark & the scallop shell stamps in the centre were a big mistake.

Take two:  Started adding paint through assorted stencils.  Still not liking.

Take three:  More paint, then Perfect Pearl mists.  Then splatted assorted distress stains.  Thinking it has possibilities.

Take four:  Stamped the starfish stamp with Versacolor trio ink – gold, silver, copper.

Take five:  Cut a section using a Spellbinders ‘Fleur de Lys’ die, mounted it onto Kraft card, then onto white cardstock.

Not too bad in the end.  It had a lovely shimmer, which can’t be seen here.  I sent it to my friend, Jen & I might ask her to see if she can take a better photo.

Thanks for looking, have a nice weekend.

Love & light

  • I think it’s gorgeous, and can definitely see the shimmer. I loved Take 1…you should have gone with it. There are no mistakes in Art…lol! But I so know the not liking feeling. I love the whole beach theme, and you can see it here perfectly.
