Twelve Tags of 2012…. June

Published June 28, 2012 by isisimaginings

Goodness, I’m cutting it fine.  This month’s tag is all about photo tinting with distress inks  To see Lord Tim’s tag & the tinting technique, go HERE.  When I saw his tag, I knew immediately what photo I wanted to use.  Firstly however, the printer ink ran out & I kept forgetting to buy a new cartridge.  Then, I couldn’t find the photo paper.  So, it’s only this week that I got new supplies & got myself organised.

My photo was quite large, so I’ve trimmed it down, but it still covers most of the background, which you can see below.  I was quite pleased with how the background turned out.  It’s Tim’s marbling technique & I haven’t had much success with in the past, but this time, it’s not too bad.

I love the different textures on this tag.  From the silk flower to the book paper & washi tape, to the film strip & all the metal, there’s lots of touchability going on.

I used the following Distress Stains: Shabby Shutters, Broken China, Spiced Marmalade & Picket Fence.

And this little cutie is ME, at ten weeks old.  ‘9’ is my birthdate & the ‘1’ on the tab indicates that I was my parents’ first child.  You can see the tinting a little more clearly here.  I also coloured the blanket I’m sitting on, but that’s now covered by the message.  I didn’t know where else to colour & as I have a tendency to go OTT, I decided to stop while I was ahead.

Can you see the butterfly underneath the filmstrip?  I stamped it in Black Soot DI & left it on for a fraction too long, because it pulled away some of the photo, leaving the white paper visible.  I like the effect, but I’m glad I wasn’t using a large stamp, otherwise I would have to start again.

That’s it for today, what do you think?  Until next time,

Love & light
