Chocolate Baroque Tag Swap Rainbow

Published September 24, 2012 by isisimaginings

Happy Monday, blog visitors, I hope you had a great weekend.  I would like to show you my R tag for the year long Chocolate Baroque alphabet tag swap.

CB tag swap 12 R

Unusually, I knew before I started what I wanted to do.  The tag below is the result & I did not like it at all.  Too much embossing, the blocks of colour were wrong & the clouds had virtually disappeared.

Then the Muse blessed me with inspiration.  I put ‘Stream’ Adirondack ink on the stencil, put a tag on top & rolled a brayer over it to transfer the ink from the stencil to the tag.

The next step was to blend Distress inks over the clouds.  I used:

  • Festive Berries
  • Squeezed Lemonade
  • Mowed Lawn
  • Salty Ocean
  • Seedless Preserves

To make raindrops I debossed the tag with a Dots Trio (Cuttlebug?) embossing folder & filled the spaces with Glossy Accents & a slight sprinkling of glitter.

The balloon & the boot are from Chocolate Baroque’s Steampunk Travel A5 set.  I coloured the balloon with watercolour pens, then added Crackle Accents.  When it dried some of the cracks were too big, so I filled the gaps with Glossy Accents.

I stamped the boot onto white card with Versamark, added silver EP & heat set, then I cut it out.  The boot was coloured with Festive Berries DI & the wings with Squeezed Lemonade – I stamped them again, cut them out & attached them to the boot with red brads.

I found the quote online & stamped it with a Hampton Art mini alphabet set on a scrap of card I had sprayed with Dylusions.

Thank you for looking.  Until next time,

Love & light

  • Oh my ! What a lovely tag! Such great colors! So, you put ink on the stencil then on the paper with Brayer? Wow! Never heard of this! Will try it. Any suggestions on doing it? Always something new to learn. Wings held on with brads! As dr who would say:Brilliant!

    • Morning! It is definitely odd that something that drives us crazy while we’re trying to make it work, can turn out to be something we’re very proud of. Also odd how something that looked great in our mind, looks terrible in reality. Lessons to be learnt, I think. 🙂 Thanks for your very kind comment.
