Unicycling on Uranus

Published November 9, 2012 by isisimaginings

Happy Friday to everyone.  Did the title of this blog post grab your attention?  It’s the title of my ‘U’ tag for the Chocolate Baroque Alpha Tag Swap.  All of us taking part knew the final six letters of the alphabet would prove a serious challenge & so it proved.

When it came to this tag, I had no clue what to do, until, for some bizarre reason, the words “unicycling on Uranus” popped into my head.  Even more bizarre, I knew instantly what I was going to do.

I wanted a simple background, but I still wanted the tag to have some texture, so I used Distress inks – Chipped Sapphire, Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean – but didn’t blend for a smooth finish.

To make the poles I used Evergreen Bough & Iced Spruce DIs, then embossed a semicircle at the bottom with silver EP.  Next, I flicked water onto the tag & very quickly put Fran’tage Cool Aqua EP on top & heat set.

The next step was the unicycle.  I stamped the winged bicycle from the CB Steampunkery set onto a piece of card that I’d also coloured with the DIs & embossed with the Fran’tage EP, cut it out & cut off the handlebars & the wings.  I cut in to the wings to feather them & added a metal wing & a gear for more dimension.

And here is the finished tag.  What do you think?  It’s quite silly, but it makes me smile & my swap partner is happy with it.

Thanks for visiting my blog.  Until next time,

Love & light

  • This is just awesome! Great job using your imagination, and I love the concept! I love the layered, more 3-D look! It would be neat if all of the planets “unicycling” our sun would be so colorful and pretty!
