#3UP for PaperArtsy

Published April 30, 2013 by isisimaginings

Evening all, happy Tuesday.

The title of this post will be understood immediately by the #PATWITS on Twitter, but for the rest of you here’s a little backstory.

Last week on Twitter, Leandra started adding the hashtag #3UP to her tweets & the only clue she would give us was to see if we got a direct message.  Well, I got one – which was a huge surprise.  The message was if she sent me three items, would I use them to make something for the PaperArtsy blog?  Would I????  Of course!!

These are the three items she sent me & after much deliberation, I decided to make a mini album.  Here’s the front cover…..

I used PaperArtsy’s new Grunge Paste through a stencil.  The Grunge Paste is FABULOUS.  If you want texture on your projects, you NEED GP.  It’s slightly chalky, not at all runny & dries really quickly.

Then I started blending some Fresco paints on top – Mermaid, Sage, Claret & Inky Pool.  When I was happy with how it looked, I added Brass & Spanish Topaz on the raised areas.

I painted the largest of the buttons with Claret & rubbed a little brass TG on top, stuck another button on top & glued seed beads to that with Cosmic Shimmer clear glue.

I made the embellishments by stamping the images from the Lynn Perella 005 set onto shrink plastic & painting on the reverse with more Frescos when the plastic had cooled down.

The inside covers were originally completely different.  I made a mistake right at the very end & couldn’t get them back to how they were, so ended up with something else entirely.  That’s one of the properties I really like about Fresco paints, you can add numerous layers without damaging the substrate.  It doesn’t show in the photo, but there is still some of the original Crackle Glaze effect showing through the stencils.  The little birds are an Impress die & I stamped the sun, from LPC005 onto a scrap of white card with Versamark & heat set with copper embossing powder.

The pages are torn squares of watercolour paper & I’ve just decorated this first one so far.  I covered it with Grunge Paste, let it dry for a few minutes, then stamped into into with another PA stamp – Swirls and Curls 2.  When the page was dry I painted over the top with Mermaid, Sage & Beach Hut, stamped the flowers, house & quote onto tissue paper, which I attached & sealed with Satin Glaze.

Here’s the back cover.  This is PA metal card put through an embossing folder.  I painted it as for the front, sanded the raised areas & rubbed TG on top.  The metal numbers were painted with Beach Hut, French Roast & Little Black Dress & highlighted with TG.

Here’s the finished album again.  I think it’s ok, even though there are things I would do differently & the inside is not what I intended.

A huge thank you to Leandra & Gillian for the opportunity & for their utter fabulousness.

12 Tags of 2013…. April

Evening all, hope you had a great weekend.  I’m cutting it very fine with my take on Tim’s April tag, but I’m so pleased I made it, especially as I didn’t make anything for March – I don’t have a single thing that Tim used & no matter how hard I tried, I could not come up with a way of adapting what I do have to his idea.

Anyway.  Here is Tim’s gorgeous April tag & again, I don’t have the main ingredients, which are the Blueprint stamps, the Distress paints & the Clearly for Art.  I used the metallic distress stains, a Mini Blueprint stamp, acetate & PaperArtsy’s Fresco paints instead.

I had bought a few door hangers from the MDF Man when I went to Ally Pally a few weeks ago & I decided to use one of them instead of a tag.  Here it is.

This is hanger after I painted it with the Frescos, (Pesto, Sage, Mermaid, Beach Hut, Claret, Brown Shed) & added the metallic distress stains & then blended the distress inks, (Wild Honey, Faded Jeans, Vintage Photo), on top.

The distress stains were ok, but the metallic distress paints would have given a much better effect, so, yes, you’ve guessed it; I NEED them.  I need the CFA too.  I manage to curve the acetate slightly before I glued it to the bulb, but it’s not as effective as the CFA would be.

Because the light bulb image is small, I added some extra stamping, using assorted TH stamps & changed the layout slightly too.  I also added Treasure Gold (Brass, Spanish Topaz, Aquamarine), to the metal embellishments.

That’s it for today, thanks for looking.  Until next time,

Guess Who’s Back

Published April 26, 2013 by isisimaginings

Yes, it’s me.  It has been rather a while & I hereby apologise to my poor, neglected blog & to those of you who’ve been wondering where I’d got to.  Stuff happened, followed by more stuff & assorted events beyond my control.  But here I am, making decisions, changing my mind about some things & looking forward.  I haven’t done a lot of crafting for myself in the last two months, but I’d like to show you the quintiles I made for the Chocolate Baroque swap for February & March.

CB Quintiles Swap Feb 1

These are February’s quintiles, the theme was Love, but I didn’t have any Valentine CB stamps.  I can’t actually remember what I used to colour the butterflies.  I think it’s distress inks.

Stamps used are:

Steampunk Butterfly

Artistic Expressions

CB Quintiles Swap Feb 2

CB Quintile 1 March

These are the March quintiles, the theme was Spring.  I had the idea of a picture frame so I used the corner stamp from the Steampunk Butterfly set to make a frame.  The cameo lady stamp is from a retired CB set, so I feel quite pleased to have it, it’s lovely.

The background is distress ink through a CWS stencil, Damask I think.  The word ‘Beauty’ is also from the Artistic Expressions set, ‘spring’ is from my stash.

CB Quintile 2 March

That’s it, thought I should keep it short & sweet for my return.  I hope to be back tomorrow with something completely different.  Thanks so much for visiting.

Love & light.
