PaperArtsy Challenge Inspired by Carol Quance

Hello, I hope everyone is having a great Friday.  It’s the start of a bank holiday weekend here, my plan is to do a little gardening & a lot of crafting.

Earlier today I finished my top secret, epic project for PaperArtsy’s 10th birthday #3UP challenge – you won’t see it for a while yet, but I have to say, I’m quite pleased with how it turned out.  I wanted to take part in this week’s PA challenge, the guest designer was Carol Quance & she had beautiful creations to show us, but I’m tired today, so I chose the first of her projects for my make.

I didn’t have a pencil case, but I did have this box.  And of course, I had to use the CWS mini cornflower stencil, which I bought at Stamperama the other week.

I used Nougat, Irish Cream, Mocha Mousse & Chocolate Pudding frescos.  For some reason, I used sequin waste to put grunge paste through on the top, then decided it wasn’t an especially good look, so I covered with one corner with the flowers & sanded back the other.

I’m not entirely happy with this.  A wash of Stone fresco & the addition of the ribbon & flowers improved it somewhat & there’s a subtle sheen from the Spanish Topaz & White Fire Treasure Gold, but it’s still not quite right.  Anyway, I’m still going to enter it into the PA challenge, because I won’t get anything else made before the end of the challenge on Sunday.

Thanks for looking.  Until next time,

Love & light.

  • I think it is gorgeous, Kirsten!! Turned out much better than my pencil box is…. think I’m going to ditch it and start again. I love the colours you’ve used, they look amazing.

  • Ooooh well done on completing your 3up project, will be great to see them all won’t it.

Fantastic transformation of your plain old white box, the grunge paste stencilled image works really well with those flowers and loving those rustic colours.

  • I love the colours on this and that cornflower stencil looks great – It’s on my wish list! I think you should be proud of your work on this. I am very excited about seeing your and all the #3UP creations! I entered one too. I can’t wait to see everybody’s. Sorry about the appalling grammar I just got in from the theatre and am so tired! • I think it’s a stunner Kirsten. The colours are really classy and I think it looks as though you should be presenting a wedding gift in it. Don’t be so hard on yourself as I can’t see anything wrong with it at all and would treasure it if it were mine.

  • The combination of deep red with soft coffee plus brown & topped with the gold & white brad is lovely indeed & doesn’t the green add a little zing too? Waging war on the slugs – eating my periwinkle……..
