PaperArtsy Christmas Crackers Day Two

Published January 2, 2014 by isisimaginings

Hello, thank you so much for the kind comments on yesterday’s post. The tree line is definitely too straight, I shall try to fix it at the weekend.

Leandra’s second project in this series was a gorgeous abstract canvas & because I liked it so much I chose similar colours. I used Stone, Irish Cream, Lake Wanaka on its own & mixed with Mermaid.

Leandra made this look very easy, but just as I can’t cut a straight line, I can’t draw or paint one either, so there was much patching up & hiding of mistakes. It did look somewhat better after a very watery wash of Mocha Mousse & Stone. I think I could have applied more of the tinted Grunge Paste too. It dried very quickly, so there’s not as much texture as I would have liked. I’ll know better next time.

I painted the bird & Eclectica flower with Frescos & coloured the Lynn Perella image with them too. I added Glossy Accents to the centre of the frame & finished with Aquamarine & White fire Treasure Gold.

If you would like to take part in the challenge, it runs until Sunday, Jan 5 at 5pm.

Thanks for looking, see you next time.

  • It’s a beautifully balanced piece. Love the bird and flower and colours are great. Know what you mean about paste drying. Bit of a learning curve. Gorgeous project. X

  • I love the effect of your silver figures echoing the metallicness of the sequins & those sequins drawing the eye to the cheeks of the Lynn Perella image. Lots of interesting things going on here – the dots in the bottom blue panel of GP echoing the sequins & Image’s cheeks & your little New Start embellishment looks wonderful.

  • Phew! Glad to hear I wasn’t the only one having trouble with straight patches… Love how you finished your piece, you can hang it on your wall with pride!
