PaperArtsy Christmas Cracker Day 3

Published January 4, 2014 by isisimaginings

Hello, hope everyone’s having a great weekend so far. I’m here with my project based on Leandra’s Painted Clusters heart, which she in turn based on techniques by the fabulous Finnabair – someone else I hope to take a class with in the future.

I used a piece of PA greyboard for my base & coated it with grunge paste that I’d tinted with Stone fresco paint, because I’d decided I wanted a very neutral colour. Then I spend an age choosing embellishments & deciding on their placement. There are various items including PA pieces, Idea-ology bits, a UTEE heart & a crocheted corner.

I then changed my mind about the colour, but didn’t know what I wanted so I picked frescos I hadn’t used in a while; Toffee, Caramel & Chocolate Pudding.

This, believe it or not, is Caramel. Just proves how terrible the light is at the moment.

Next, a few layers of Toffee.

Now Chocolate Pudding mixed with Irish Cream on the GP base only & I’m beginning to like what I see.

At last, the “A-ha!” moment; French Roast & tiny amounts of Little Black Dress. I applied these with a brush, dabbing with a baby wipe, drying with the heat tool, then repeating until I was happy.

Finally, Spanish Topaz & White Fire Treasure Gold. Usually I’m a bit slapdash when applying TG, but this time I was more careful, using a brush & adding small amounts, letting it dry, then applying more until I decided there was enough.

Hopefully, by clicking on the picture you’ll be able to make it bigger & you’ll see the shine from the TG.

I’m so pleased with how this turned out, enormous thanks to Leandra for pushing me out of my comfort zone.

Thanks for looking, see you next time.

  • I think that it is fabulous. I can see that you spent a long time arranging it because it really works. Textures and colour looks fab and I did enlarge it and it did pop out at me. Well done you. Gold star. Xx

  • Love your PaperArtsy piece Kirsten. Your colours are definitely right up my street! Lovely arrangement of embellies too ……I took hours (literally) deciding on the final placement of mine, lol! Love the new blog look and the header is gorgeous!

  • I like the new blog design….. Now that is some interesting cooking, Caramel & Toffee with Chocolate Pudding is fine, I don’t care much for Irish Cream & French Roast was just too much for my taste buds. Visually this looks very interesting but I don’t think I’d care to eat it.

  • This is absolutely gorgeous… the painty layers work brilliantly to give wonderful depth, and the TG buffs it all up beautifully – fabulous make! And a great new look to the blog too – love it!
