Hello, I hope everyone’s had a good Tuesday, thanks for the kind comments on my blog posts last night. Much to my delight, my friend Sarita in California gifted me a place on Stencilled, the new class from OnlineCardClasses.com for Christmas. Class finally began last Friday & we’ve had four days of fantastic video tutorials. I’m two days behind, but I’ll be making more cards over the next few days & at the weekend too, no doubt. Here are my cards from Day One; Inking & Misting.
Distress inks
Dylusions
White embossing & distress inks
I had a lovely time making the first six cards but when I came to the final lesson from Day One I got stuck. The lesson was all about layering stencils & my first effort is so atrocious that I am NOT exposing it to public ridicule. My second attempt is MUCH better. Well, I think it is.
I started with layering the Crafters’ Workshop reverse honeycomb stencil over the Blazonry stencil & applied Shaded Lilac DI. I got a very uneven result, which I wanted. I removed the honeycomb stencil & applied Weathered Wood DI through the Blazonry stencil. Then I sat & pondered until I thought of this flower stencil by Wendy Vecchi. I’m not exaggerating when I say that the clouds parted & the angels sang (well, maybe a little….) as it all suddenly became clear & I knew what I was going to do…….
I coloured the flower with Wendy’s Cornflower Blue & Fern Green Archival inks, applied Scattered Straw DI through the CWS Tile Texture stencil & used the cap of my spritzer bottle with Fired Brick DI to make the circles. I added the greeting (Inkadinkado, I think) & voila, finished! I like this card A LOT & I thoroughly enjoyed the first day of class.
Thanks for looking, I’ll be back tomorrow night with my cards for Day Two.
I love this card too. Great colours and really fabulous stencilling. What a lovely, thoughtful gift to give you online classes. Julie Ann xx

All your cards are very cool Kirsten!
Love the Dylusions Spray with the ombre technique & the white embossing looks phenominal.
Your layering stencils card works brilliantly along with that stunning stamp:-) xxx
What a great sounding class! I wish my pc would play videos properly (I think it’s poor internet connections) I’d love to do this one. LOVE your cards – all of them, but especially the last one.
Morning Kirsten 🙂 all of your cards have turned out lovely…looks like you are having al ot of fun doing this class, what a lovely gift!! Looking forward to seeing more xx
Grand job done.. I’m slowly working my way through too, fun though!
Beautiful cards! Love that you used Dylusions and still have white on your cards! COOL!
These are fabulous Kirsten! That last card is beautiful! x
These cards are wonderful Kirsten, I can’t believe you’ve done all this with stencills xx
Wow, these are great cards.
Really beautiful cards, Kirsten… I thought I should do the days in order rather than catching up backwards, so I’ve come to Day 1 first. The first six cards are fab (the Distress Inks are my favourites), but the layered stencilling on the third card completely steals the show for me – simply glorious!

Really lovely lotis flower stencil. I like the colors that you picked. =^_^= How did you enjoy the class? I had a great time working with stencils. I had not used them much before.
Thank you Elizabeth! I enjoyed the class very much. I already use stencils a lot for backgrounds, but it was great to use them to make fairly clean & simple cards instead.
