Creative Crafters Flock Together

Published February 27, 2014 by isisimaginings

Every month I promise myself that I will take part  in the Artistic Stamper challenge & every month I either forget or I can’t come up with any ideas. This month the theme is ‘Distress’, as in Distress products & I may be cutting it fine, but I’ve made a journal page tonight, using Distress stains & inks.

001

The inspiration for the page was France Papillon’s Journal on Monday video from earlier this week & a very enjoyable evening at The Artistic Stamper last night, where we all ate too much, did a little crafting & enjoyed sharing hints, tips & ideas.

I used both of my PaperArtsy Lin Brown stencils, gesso, assorted distress stains & inks, assorted Artistic Stamper background stamps & Neil Walker’s Funky Birds stamps for the Artistic Stamepr. I’m too tired to go into any details, but it’s all quite basic.

Thanks for looking, see you next time & goodnight.

Inspired by Ellen Vargo

Published February 22, 2014 by isisimaginings

Evening, hope everyone’s having a nice weekend so far.  I have had a very busy day & I’m hoping I can finish this post without falling asleep on the keyboard.

I’m so pleased that I managed to make something for the PaperArtsy challenge this week, the wonderful Ellen Vargo was back as guest designer & as I’ve said before, I LOVE her art. Ellen has designed a fantastic collection of stamps for PaperArtsy & I hope to get a set soon. I really had no clue how I would make an abstract pattern with the PA stamps I have, but I knew I wanted to make a master board similar to the one in Ellen’s third post, so I just started playing.

Firstly, I stamped the ornamental flower pot from the new Lynne Perella set LP028 with black Archival.

005

Out came the brayer & the new limited edition Lin Brown Fresco paints.

006

Then I got stuck, until I realised this stamp from the E Lin Brown set 04 would work.

008

I had no collage papers so I used strips of washi tape & added assorted doodling with black paint & a white pen.

012

Because I wasn’t sure what I was doing I’d only used half an A4 sheet of card for my base. I got three ATC sized pieces & four smaller pieces when I cut it down.

013

Stamped some quotes onto white card for the ATCs.

014

Made a piece of wall art with the rest.

015

In the end, I think this worked out, I like the results. Thanks to Ellen for the inspiration & thanks to you for visiting. See you next time.

12 Tags of 2014 February

Good evening, hope everyone’s had a lovely Thursday, I’ve spent most of the day catching up & leaving comments on all the blog posts I’d missed since last Saturday.

I made my take on Tim’s tag last week, but I didn’t get time to blog about it, so tonight’s the night. You can see Tim’s gorgeous Valentine themed tag HERE & below is mine. I had virtually nothing of what Tim used & I didn’t want to make a Valentine tag, but I did want to use the PaperArtsy  tall heart die.

002

As I said for my January take, I’m using canvas boards as my substrates this year & I painted this one with Irish Cream Fresco paint, then added Shabby Shutters distress stain. After which I promptly forgot to take photos.

001

I used Wendy Vecchi’s Watering Can & Cornflower Archival inks through the CWS Harlequin stencil & used Clear embossing powder over the top. I used Broken China distress glitter on the heart & edged it with Walnut Stain distress ink. The border was cut from black card with a Spellbinders die & covered with silver Treasure Gold, I left it a bit patchy in places.

003

When I stamped the TH quote onto the black card with Versamark I didn’t use an anti-static pad first, so there are flecks of white EP here & there, which is my nod to the chalkboard effect on Tim’s tag. I used a Permapaque white marker pen for the border. When I removed the tiny inserts from the black card after die cutting it I liked the shaped ones & decided to add them to the top of the board.

002

That’s it. Thanks for looking & thank you once again to Tim for the inspiration. See you next time.

PaperArtsy at Stitches

Published February 17, 2014 by isisimaginings

As requested, here are some photos of the incredible samples on the PaperArtsy stand at the Stitches trade show in the NEC in Birmingham. I only had a few minutes to spend at the stand at the end of yesterday & today, so the photos aren’t great. All of my fellow #PATWITS will recognise the various designers, but I did try to include their names in the photos.

If there was an award for the greatest number of samples on one stand, PaperArtsy would win hands down. And every one of them was completely stunning.

Edited at 7.09 18/02.14: I neglected to mention last night the members of the PA guest designer team, whose beautiful work is also amongst that of Darcy, Lin, Jo, Sarah, Lynne & Ellen. If you go to any of the PA blog posts from last week you will find links to their blogs, where you’ll see their work.

Attending Stitches was a great experience. We were so busy on both days & the time flew by. I missed lots of demoes by people like Hels Sheridan, Finnabair & Ali Reeve. I missed Leandra & Lin @YoursArtfully Brown demoing too, but at least I got to say hello to them. I did see a few new items I liked, but it has to be said that, apart from EVERYTHING on the PaperArtsy stand, there was nothing that I thought I would have to have.

And now I have to go to bed. I got three hours sleep last night & I’m feeling quite exhausted now. Thanks for looking.

Lin Brown Stencil & Paints for PaperArtsy

Published February 14, 2014 by isisimaginings

Evening, I’m still feeling damp around the edges after the torrential rain we’ve had today & right now, the wind & rain are crashing against the house. Goodness knows what damage we’ll see in the morning.

One of the highlights of Stamperama last Sunday for me was the launch of the new stencils & paints designed by the wonderful Lin Brown for PaperArtsy. They’ve since been officially launched on the PA blog & if you haven’t already done so, you need to see all of Lin’s designs & the gorgeous samples created by her & other members of the PA design team. I chose these two fantastic stencils, as well as the paints which you would have seen in my Stamperama post & tonight I’ve had a little play.

001

A few layers of Nougat & Chartreuse Frescos put on a manila tag with a baby wipe. Sponged Cheesecake through the circles stencil.

006

I stamped the flower from the E Lin Brown set 04 with Tikka, added Chutney with the other end of a paint brush & stamped the frond with Seaweed.

007

Little Black Dress through the branch & circles stencils, added white dots with a Sakura pen to the circles. Edged the tag with Orange Blossom, Fern & Potting Soil Archival inks.

019

Second tag. Started with Cheesecake, then Tikka, then Chartreuse. Sponged Cheesecake through the branch stencil, then Zesty Zing for the circles.

012

Applied Tikka & Chutney to the flower stamp, then applied Seaweed through the branch stencil.

013

014

I first applied Red Geranium Archival through the branch stencil, but it wasn’t dark enough so I went over it with Plum Archival. (There was a loud “oooh” of delight when I lifted off the stencil after this step!) Black Archival for the circles & went over some of them with a black PITT pen to make them even darker.

015

Added white dots to the leaves & edged the tag with Potting Soil & black Archival inks.

017

I really enjoyed making these tags & they’ve given me lots of ideas for bigger projects. I love the stencils, they’re approximately 15 x 18cm, cut perfectly & of excellent quality. The new Fresco colours are gorgeous. I’ve never been a huge fan of green, but Seaweed & Chartreuse are my new favourite Frescos & all four work perfectly together. Huge thanks to Lin & PA for these wonderful new additions to my crafting stash.

Thank for looking, see you next time.

ASOI Colour Challenge

Published February 12, 2014 by isisimaginings

I completely forgot about the ASOI colour challenge this month & there is less than two hours to enter! This is the colour palette we had to use…….

CCSept13

I chose Bora Bora, Mermaid, Lilac, Limelight & Snowflake Fresco paints. I mixed the Limelight with a little Snowflake & applied the first few layers with a baby wipe.

001

I then covered all of that layer with Bora Bora, before wiping it off through the CWC Blazonry stencil with baby wipes. Then I added more stencilling with paint & grunge paste, followed by stamping.

005

I used the PaperArtsy stamp sets I got at Stamperama, painting the Lynn Perella image with Frescos, using white embossing powder for the flowers, along with Shaded Lilac & Shabby Shutters distress inks & added some square metal brads as embellishments.

The finished page.  It’s all a bit too neat & tidy, but I like the combination of colours.

012

Thanks for looking, see you next time.

#PATWITS On Tour

Published February 9, 2014 by isisimaginings

Today was Stamperama Day in Crafting Land & lots of us descended on Stevenage Leisure Centre, ready to be wowed by great demoes & perhaps make a purchase or two. There were quite a few #PATWITS, known on Twitter for our dedication to all things PaperArtsy. Some of us had met before, but there were many new faces too. There was Julie Ann, Deborah, Alison, Helen, Lin S, Jo, Karen, Lin B, Hazel & Cazz. I also had the great pleasure of meeting Alison Bomber, who has been a guest designer on the PA blog & is on the DT for The Artistic Stamper. If you don’t know Alison’s amazing work, check out her blog. And you can see photos of the gang on Helen’s blog.

Here is the queen of the #PATWITS. Mrs PaperArtsy herself, the amazing Leandra.

003

She’s got a brayer & she’s not afraid to use it………… Here is the awesome Darcy Wilkinson, artist extraordinaire & designer of some of the coolest PA stamps EVER. Wait until you see her new sets – squeee!!

002

On goes the Treasure Gold………..

005

Leandra explaining the ins & outs of Fresco paints while Jo Myhill looks on.

006

Leandra in action…..

007

Creating this. Look at those gorgeous colours!

008

A few samples on the PA stand.  There were so many new & wonderful things available to buy. Some of which have not been officially released so we’re all keeping secrets this week, until we’re given the nod that we can show you what we got.

009

And finally, I made a purchase or two…. (Don’t look too closely at the paints, I think they’re still wraps for another day or two). Sorry Leandra!

012

I had a lovely time  today. Stamperama is a lovely show to attend & it’s always great to have a crafting chat in more than 140 characters.

Thanks for looking, see you next time.
