PaperArtsy Challenge–Inspired by Pam Thorburn

Published March 1, 2014 by isisimaginings

Evening, I haven’t had the best day but I’ve managed to complete a project for the PaperArtsy challenge. Pam Thorburn was back on the PA blog as the main guest designer & she showed us three stunning scrapbook pages. I’ve never attempted a scrapbook page, but I loved her layout from day two, so I’ve used her ideas to make a journal page.

I used an 8 x 8 spiral bound Seawhite journal, the paper is excellent & I gave two pages a light coat of white gesso before adding Chartreuse Fresco paint through the new Lin Brown circles stencil. The I painted scraps of card with assorted Frescos – Inky Pool, Limelight, London Bus, Tinned Peas, Tikka, Zesty Zing & cut lots of circles. I used assorted PA stamps on the circles & decorated them with more Frescos & doodling.

I did all of the above without knowing what my focal image was going to be, so I went through my pile of postcards from museums & galleries & found this one. It’s an illustration from the Egyptian Book of the Dead & it portrays the adoration of the sun god, Amun-Ra. The eagle is crowned by the sun disc & I thought the colours of the postcard were in similar tones to the Frescos I’d used. It seemed appropriate as the days are noticeably longer & signs of Spring are everywhere.

I trimmed the border & layered it on to black card. I added some stamping & washi tape to the page & glued everything down.

The completed spread.

Thank you to Pam for her inspiration this week & thanks to you for looking. See you next time

  • I like the way all the circles came together with that sun disc on the postcard. I particularly like the way you added such interest to so many different circles on the main spreads too. Hope you are having a better day. Got round the missing button too.
