PaperArtsy Challenge – Inspired by Sam

Published April 25, 2014 by isisimaginings

Evening, I hope the last few days have been good to you. There was great excitement on Twitter on Wednesday night when we – the #PATWITS – discovered that our friend Sam, aka @sam21ski, was featured on the PaperArtsy blog. Her project was a gorgeous, oriental themed tag & I decided to follow Sam’s method & colour scheme. I also decided to use a canvas board & had to use Smoked Paprika instead of Autumn Fire Fresco paint. I love how the brayer missed areas of the board………

Not having have any oriental images meant I had use something else, so of course I chose this Lynne Perella image, my current favourite. My Twitter find & fellow #PATWIT, Lin gave me the pediments. I dry embossed them with the Tim Holtz Checkerboard folder, then used a PITT pen to colour in the raised ideas – halfway through I was berating myself for having such a crazy idea, it took ages & I was terrified I’d make a mistake at the last minute……

That’s it, I am entering this in the current PaperArtsy challenge.

Congratulations Sam, on your PaperArtsy success & thank you for the inspiration.

See you next time.

  • Awww Kirsten, thank you and I’m so thrilled you felt inspired to have a go at the tag. your chequered pediments look fabulous, as does your background and of course it wouldn’t be right without a LP image now would it xxx Absolutely stunning and thanks so much for playing along.

Good luck in this weeks draw.

  • I’m very impressed with the way you inked her up in two different colours – she is very splendid & I love the way your pediments reflect the patterns in both her image & the background blocking chequerboard effect. The strip of rustic burlap echoes the texture of the canvas superbly. Your pediment is so successful – it was definitely worth doing.

  • Fabulous take on Sam’s inspiration Kirsten. You and I have both had to find a different way to emulate the chequered effect on the pediments, lol! The whole design is beautiful.
