PaperArtsy 3UP week–Inspired by Ruth

Published May 4, 2014 by isisimaginings

Good afternoon, I hope everyone’s having a nice weekend so far. I have actually managed to make a second piece for this week’s PaperArtsy challenge. There was so much incredible talent on the PA blog this week that I wanted to make lots of things but in the end I went with Ruth’s project from night 6. Ruth used Ellen Vargo’s stamps & Lin Brown stencils to make a gorgeous tropical scene, so I thought I’d try a smaller version…………..

I started my background with Pea Coat, Inky Pool, Bora Bora, Mermaid, Ice Blue Frescos on a piece of PA grey board, stamped  the PA Mini circles stamp with the same colours & put a wash of Beach Hut on top.

A close up of the finished background with Grunge Paste words from the LB04 stencil, painted with Pea Coat & Florentine TG on top. I also used the LB02 stencil.

I painted heavy watercolour paper with Pumpkin Soup & Zesty Zing & stamped the seed pod from EEV02 with Snowflake. The flower centre is Inky Pool, Pea Coat & Eggplant & a stamp from EEV03 stamped with Archival. I used an embossing tool to add dots of Snowflake.

Thanks to Ruth for the inspiration. If you’d like to see more of Ruth’s work, her blog is http://argeum.blogspot.co.uk/

See you all next time.

  • This is superb, Kirsten! I love how big and bold that central flower is, a wonderful sunflower, glorious! You have been busy creating such gorgeous things! Julie Ann xxx

  • Very striking use of the embossing tool for the white dots – I love the way they echo your background circles stamping. Your shaping of those flower petals really makes me think of a massive sunflower nodding at me & I really like the way your mauve leaves provide interest whilst still allowing the black leaves & stem to form the flower. I rather think I’d like what’s in your Secret Garden.
