PaperArtsy Challenge #4 Miniature Art

Published March 8, 2015 by isisimaginings

Good morning. The PaperArtsy challenge this week is all about things in miniature & yet again, there was incredible inspiration from all the designers. I had a few ideas, none of which I’ve had time to make, but yesterday I came up with this, my first ATB………………

2015-03-04 001 003

The block was made from kraft card, using a WRMK board, which I borrowed from a friend to try out. Very easy to make boxes with it, but scoring heavy weight card irritated the carpal tunnel in my left hand & I don’t like the ‘link the two sides together’ closure – sorry, can’t think how to describe it. Anyway, I still want the ATB dies. I painted this one – it’s the smallest size ATB, btw – with black gesso & set it aside.

2015-03-03 003 001

I created a masterboard following Leandra’s series of YouTube videos, using a variety of Fresco paints & a brayer.

2015-03-03 003 002

I added various colours, including Orchid, Turquoise, Caribbean Sea, Cheesecake & Guacamole………..

2015-03-03 003 005

Then stamping with assorted PA stamps, including Lin Brown & Ellen Vargo sets……………..

2015-03-03 003 008

I chose images from Darcy Wilkinson’s Eclectica 11 & Eclectica 12 sets, & painted them with Lin Brown’s new limited edition Frescos………..

2015-03-03 003 015

2015-03-03 003 016

I painted the Lin Brown owl from & sat him in flowers I’d cut from the masterboard with the Tim Holtz Tattered Floral die……..

2015-03-04 001 004

I glued the ATB to a spool I’d painted with black gesso & Fresco Old Gold, then I sanded it & added Little Black Dress Fresco to the sanded areas……

That’s it, thanks for looking. I’d like to enter this into the PaperArtsy challenge.

A Birthday Card For Linda

Published February 2, 2015 by isisimaginings

Thank you all so much for the lovely & supportive comments on the face drawing I shared the other night, I greatly appreciate each & every one.

I made tonight’s card at the start of January, it was the first non-Christmas project I’d made in months & I really struggled to come up with an idea. In the end, I went to the PaperArtsy blog & basically copied this lovely card by Joanne Wardle. Thank you Joanne!

Linda Jones 2015 1

I brayered Hint of Mint PA Fresco paint onto watercolour card, sponged Ice Blue FF through the PA stencil, ELB001 & splattered FF Old Gold on top. Chartreuse FF was applied though stencil ELB002 & the ‘W’ is from JOFY Collection 21.

Linda was kind enough to say she liked her card. And she was even kinder when she sent me a photo of it, because I completely forgot to take one before I mailed it to her. Thank you Linda! I hope you had a lovely birthday.

A Birthday Card For Emma

Published January 31, 2015 by isisimaginings

Good morning, yesterday was the birthday of another  Twitter friend, the very lovely Emma, so here’s the card I made for her.

2015-01-20 001 011

Brayered these FF paints onto watercolour card first…………..

Mixed Vintage Lace & Irish Cream FF & stamped with the rectangle stamp from EEV02 by Ellen Vargo for PaperArtsy…………..

2015-01-19 001 006

Mixed Nougat & Mocha Mousse FF & stamped with the bubble wrap stamp from EEV06…………….

2015-01-19 001 007

And then I forgot to take more photographs. I mixed a dot of Old Gold FF with FF Gloss Glaze & painted that over the stamped layers. Then I used Ice Blue & Pea Coat FF through PaperArtsy stencils ELB02 & JOFY007 & added stamping – EEV05, black gesso bottle cap circles & Old Gold FF lines with an old gift card………….

2015-01-19 001 010

I added white accents to the poppy pods with a gel pen, applied white gesso through the PA stencil ELB001 & three circles punched out of scrap white card…………..

Once again, happy birthday Emma, I hope you had a lovely day.

A Birthday Card for Chris

Published January 24, 2015 by isisimaginings

Hello, happy Saturday-soon-be-Sunday. Today’s birthday card is for my crafting friend Chris & it’s bright. Very bright. Too bright? You decide. The seemingly endless grey days of January are getting to me, so I’ll take all the brightness I can get. 🙂

I put distress inks onto a stencil – PaperArtsy ELB001 – & put watercolour card on top. I dried the card & applied black gesso through the border section of the Dylusions Snow stencil, then added bottle cap circles with Old Gold Fresco Finish paint. I also added Glossy Accents to some of stencilled circles.

Stampotique’s Moth Fab was coloured with distress inks & a water brush.  I used one of my mini alphabet stamp sets for the greeting & punched out the circles.

Happy birthday Chris, I hope you’ve enjoyed your day.

Thanks everyone for visiting my blog. I’ll end today by saying how thrilled & honoured I was when Kim Howard chose my Moth Fab Christmas card as one of her favourites from the SDC#176 challenge. Thanks so much Kim, I’m delighted to have the Stampotique favourites badge on my blog.

A Birthday Card for Lin

Published January 23, 2015 by isisimaginings

(Very) Belated Happy New Year to everyone, I hope January is treating you well. Since the start of the month I have been elbows deep in orders & DT projects – you can see my DT cards on Tuesdays & Fridays usually (often on Sundays & Mondays too) on the Lisa B Designs Inspiration blog – but I have a number of friends with birthdays this month, so I needed to make cards for them too.  Today I’ll show you the card I made for Lin, whose birthday is today. I was so engrossed in making this that I completely forgot about taking photos.

I covered a square of white card with gesso & put another piece of card on top,  ‘smooshing’ them together to create texture, then separating them & leaving them to dry. My idea was to build up layers of colour with Brusho crystals, but despite many attempts I couldn’t get a result I was happy with. I decided that I liked the very pale green & purple background left behind by wiping off the Brushos with a baby wipe, so I dried the card thoroughly & applied White Fire Treasure Gold all over it with my fingers, which I buffed with a soft cloth. The sheen is not showing up particularly well on my computer, but it did look nice.

2015-01-18 001 007

I added stencilling – PaperArtsy ELB004 JOFY007 Wendy Vecchi Dots & Stripes Borders – with Eggplant Fresco Finish paint & black gesso. I used bottle caps with FF Old Gold & black gesso for the circles.

I decided when I‘d finished the card that the border stencilling needed something more, so I covered a scrap of white card with Seedless Preserves distress ink, punched out the circles & glued them down, then applied clear Wink of Stella & Glossy Accents.

The greeting is from Tim Holtz’ #Hashtags stamp set.

Happy birthday Lin, I hope you’ve had a lovely day.

PaperArtsy Challenge–Inspired by Linda Cain

Published June 28, 2014 by isisimaginings

Evening, hope everyone’s had a great Saturday. It’s been yet another week of amazing inspiration over on the PaperArtsy blog & it took me an age to decide what to do. In the end I went with Linda Cain’s gorgeous shadow box tray from Wednesday night.

I didn’t have a shadow box, so I used this photo frame instead………….

I sanded it a little, gave it a coat of gesso, then painted it with Little Black Dress Fresco paint.

I decided on a blue colour palette & used silver acrylic paint a well…………….

I used Ellen Vargo, Lin Brown & Lynne Perella stamps on the background, stamped with Cornflower Blue Archival ink

I had a bit of a disaster the first time around when I came to stamp the focal image. Stamped with black Archival & this was the result…………….

Not good.

So I started all over again & stamped with Onyx Black Versafine. Much better…………

Thanks for looking & thank you Linda for the inspiration. I’m entering this in the PaperArtsy challenge HERE.

See you next time.

One More for PaperArtsy

Published May 18, 2014 by isisimaginings

Afternoon, I hope everyone’s having a pleasant Sunday. Thank you for all the kind comments & sympathy last night. I’m pleased to say that today the entire street seems to have gone out & I’m enjoying the peace & quiet.

I didn’t intend making a third project for the current PaperArtsy challenge, but this one sort of evolved yesterday & this morning.  It’s based on Sue Carrington’s project from Wednesday  & Helen Chilton’s canvas from Friday.

I used a canvas board & started the background with Lilac & Chartreuse Frescos, added stencilling (Lin Brown’s) with a mix of Limelight & Snowflake, then stamping with Watering Can Archival, more stencilling with Concrete Fresco & Lilac & more stamping (EEV05) with Snowflake.

I mixed Lilac Fresco & Grunge Paste for the poppies, then painted over them with Lilac, Pansy, Tinned Peas & Hyde Park & finished with Silver Treasure Gold. The quote is from Hot Pick 1204, stamped with black Archival.

Thanks to Helen & Sue for the inspiration. I’m now off to do some housework, see you next time.
